Record Setting Diesel Pro Mod!

Diesel racing is reaching new heights year after year. Among those leading the charge is Johnny Gilbert and the team at Stainless Diesel. We chatted with Johnny just before the opening race of the season to talk about his Pro Mod. Some interesting points arose during the episode – a major one being technology fueling the progress.

Electronic performance has changed the way modern diesel race engines are controlled, as well as safeguarding the driver. Johnny mentioned the vehicles ECU is calibrated to automatically deploy the parachute, in the event he doesn’t activate it. This is one of many safety features built into today’s modern diesel racing vehicle. Custom tuning also allows the power to be harnessed for the Wagler Competition Cummins and massive single turbo feeding the power.

We asked Johnny his goals for the race and 2023 race season. As it turned out, Stainless Diesel would set the Pro Mod record just after recording with us. Congratulations to the teams at Stainless Diesel and Hollyrock Customs for both setting diesel world records on the first race of the season!
